Dow Vietnam donated medical supplies to Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital

On October 10, 2023, Dow Chemical Vietnam LLC (Dow Vietnam) donated the essential medical supplies to the Emergency and Critical Care Department of Hanoi Medical University Hospital and the Emergency Department of Bach Mai Hospital. This donation project was implemented by the Project Office of the Resources Exchange International Organization (REI) in Vietnam through the connection of the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) with Dow Vietnam.

At the handover ceremony in Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Vice President of Dow Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Son said that Dow is a materials science company and has been operating in Vietnam more than 28 years. The company has been conducting many support activities for the community, including the medical field. We sincerely thank PACCOM for connecting Dow Vietnam and REI to jointly carry out this meaningful program at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. We believe that the donation will contribute to supporting the Emergency and Critical Care Department of Hanoi Medical University Hospital in examining and treating patients.

Specifically, the Emergency and Critical Care Department, has received a 5-parameter patient monitor which has the function of monitoring End-tidal CO2 (EtCO2). Receiving this donation, the Head of the department, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Bui Hai stressed that for many years, REI has had many support activities for Hanoi Medical University Hospital, especially in nursing training. Hanoi Medical University Hospital sincerely thanks Dow Vietnam for its donation and looks forward to receiving the continued support for the hospital in the future. The donated monitor machine has the function of monitoring CO2 in exhaled air, which is very important for emergency doctors when treating patients with circulatory arrest. Previously, we only used conventional monitoring measures. Hopefully, with the ETCO2 monitor, we will have a more effective assessment and positively improve the results of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for patients in the emergency and recovery areas.

Right after that, at Bach Mai Hospital, Dow Vietnam and REI donated essential medical supplies to the Emergency Department of Bach Mai Hospital, to support the hospital with additional equipment to serve patients. The donation to the hospital includes two sets of CardioTouch 3000 - a premium quality interpretive 12 channel electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) machine; and 2 laptops for medical data collection.

Deputy Director of the A9 Emergency Center, Dr. Nguyen Huu Quan highlighted that the donated ECG machines and computers by Dow Vietnam are essential equipment, helping to diagnose more quickly and improve the treatment quality. Currently, the A9 Emergency Center is accepting many patients, so it needs support from medical resources. The hospital's machines are old and difficult to purchase, especially lacking in electrocardiogram machines. Bach Mai Hospital highly appreciates the donation from Dow Vietnam.

Also, Bach Mai Hospital hopes that REI will introduce more international experts to expand cooperation with the hospital, accompany in the process of building and developing the hospital, and improve the service quality. As a special-class general hospital, Bach Mai Hospital always understands the importance of international cooperation, joint development between regional countries, and improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for the people.
